HOW TO MAKE CARAMEL APPLE CIDER
In a large pot, combine apple cider, caramel sauce, brown sugar, cinnamon sticks, anise, and ground nutmeg.
Heat the mixture over medium heat until the caramel sauce and brown sugar are completely dissolved.
Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes to allow the spices to infuse the cider.
Remove the pot from the heat and strain the cider through a fine mesh sieve to remove the cinnamon sticks and anise.
Serve the drink hot in mugs.
Top each mug with a dollop of whipped cream, apple slices or cinnamon sticks if desired.
TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- Make sure to strain the cider through a fine mesh sieve to remove the cinnamon sticks and cloves before serving.
- If you want a stronger caramel flavor, you can add an additional 1/4 cup of caramel sauce.
- You can also serve this cider cold. Simply let it cool in the refrigerator and serve over ice.
- Use a large pot to accommodate all the ingredients and for easy stirring.
- Use a whisk or spatula to help dissolve the caramel sauce and brown sugar into the cider.
- Keep an eye on the cider while boiling to avoid boiling over or burning, stirring occasionally.
- Serve the cider in pre-warmed mugs to keep it hot for longer.
- Top each mug with whipped cream and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon for an extra special touch.
