Servings 12 1 square servings
- 2 1/2 cups pretzels, crushed
- 3/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1 8 oz package cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 12 oz container whipped topping (like Cool Whip), thawed
- 2 3 oz packages strawberry jell-o gelatin
- 2 cups boiling water
- 3 cups frozen strawberries, sliced (or use fresh if prefered)
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine crushed pretzels, melted butter, and 3 tablespoons sugar. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9x13-inch baking dish. Bake for 10 minutes, then allow to cool completely.
In a large bowl, beat the softened cream cheese and 1 cup sugar until smooth. Fold in the whipped topping until fully combined. Spread this mixture evenly over the cooled pretzel crust, making sure to seal the edges to prevent the gelatin from leaking through. Chill in the refrigerator while preparing the next layer.
In a large bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in 2 cups boiling water. Stir in the sliced strawberries. Let the mixture cool slightly (but not set), then pour it gently over the cream cheese layer.
Refrigerate the dessert for at least 2 hours, or until the gelatin is fully set. Slice into squares and serve cold.
