Hot Chocolate Holiday Donuts

Hot Chocolate Holiday Donuts - these delicious homemade Christmas donuts make a delicious holiday dessert, breakfast or treat. They are a super festive Christmas donut recipe the whole family will love. Bake them in the oven or make in a donut maker.

Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

For The Glaze

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions
 

  • Preheat oven to 350°F/180°. Grease a donut pan with oil or butter. Set aside.
  • Make the donuts : Mix dry ingredients in bowl. Beat in the eggs, milk, vanilla and butter until well blended.
  • Fill each donut cup about ¾ full (I use a ziploc with the corner snipped, much easier!).
  • Bake donuts in 325 degree oven for about 11-14 minutes. Allow to cool slightly, remove from pan and transfer to a wire rack. Allow to cool completely before glazing.
  • Make the chocolate glaze: Melt the chocolate, heavy cream, and butter gently in the microwave (in 30-second intervals, stirring in between) or a double boiler until smooth. Dip the tops of the donuts into the chocolate glaze, and place on a cooling rack to set.
  • Top the donuts off with mini chocolate scobs.
