RED WHITE AND BLUE SANGRIA

Summer is almost here and it’s time to think about what you’re going to serve for 4th of July party. I truly believe that creating fun, festive and delicious recipes can take the party to the next level. 4th of July and Memorial days are no exception. That’s why I am bringing you an extremely fun and easy patriotic sangria recipe that is going to be the star of the show at your summer party this year. Made with cooled sparkling white wine (or champagne), honeydew liqueur, strawberries and blueberries, it makes the ultimate 4th of July cocktail that is easy to serve for your party guests. It’s the perfect festive party drink – Red, White And Blue Sangria!

WHY YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE THIS RECIPE

  • Makes the ultimate 4th of July cocktail.
  • Easy to serve for a large crowd.
  • Requires only 4-5 simple ingredients.
  • Can be made in advance.
  • Very easy to substitute, versatile recipe.

WHITE WINE SANGRIA

To represent the Independence Day colors, this recipe calls for a white wine or champagne. It’s the base of the sangria, so that the cut out stars, strawberries and blueberries can really pop out. Sangria recipes are so versatile since you can choose the base and the second alcohol per your choosing. For this festive 4th of July sangria we used honeydew liqueur which takes this drink to the next level. This Christmas sangria is also made with white wine, and it is always my favorite way to make holiday sangrias so you can add fun additions.

SUBSTITUTIONS & VARIATIONS

  • Instead of white wine, you can also choose red wine or dry rose as it still represents the flag colors. As you prefer!
  • Use vodka or silver tequila instead of honeydew liqueur, for a stronger version of this sangria recipe.
  • Change up liqueur for other flavor, such as orange liqueur.
  • Choose white grape juice if you want more clear sangria. You can also make it virgin by only adding white grape juice and lemon-lime soda or bubbly water for extra bubbles.

INGREDIENTS NOTES

I love how versatile this recipe is, but if you want to recreate this exact one, here’s how it goes –

Sparkly Rose Wine – or any other sparkly wine, such as champagne, Prosecco, etc.

Honeydew Liqueur – for a sweetness and flavor. I would also recommend using orange liqueur or white pear liqueur.

White Grape Juice – here you can choose from different options if you don’t have white grape juice – bubbly water, lemon-lime soda, white pear juice, cranberry juice for a red sangria, etc.

Strawberries – to represent the red color.

Blueberries – to represent the blue color.

Pears for Cut Out Stars – to represent stars and white color. You can also make them from apples or honeydew.

Sparkling Water – to top the infused mixture off. You’re going to use this only before serving.

HOW TO MAKE RED WHITE AND BLUE SANGRIA

  • Peel the pears, then slice each one lengthwise into 4 pieces. Use a small star-shaped cookie cutter to cut 1-2 stars from each piece, removing seeds as necessary.
  • Combine Rose wine, honeydew liqueur, white grape juice, strawberries, blueberries, and pear stars in a large pitcher. Mix well, then chill at least 2 hours, or up to 6 hours to let the flavors infuse.
  • When ready to serve, add the sparkling water to the pitcher and stir well. Portion into large sangria or red wine glasses, then top with crushed ice.
