INGREDIENTS NOTES
This recipe has the same graham cracker crust as the original cheesecake, but the filling is so easy to make, here’s how it goes –
Graham Cracker Crumbs – for the crust. Make sure to use unsalted ones.
Butter – melted, for the crust.
Granulated Sugar – for the crust.
Heavy Whipping Cream – for the orange pie filling and decorating.
Cream Cheese – softened in the room temperature. This goes into the filling, we used the classic Philadelphia cream cheese.
Orange Jell-O – this can be substituted with orange juice concentrate or any other orange gelatin.
Boiling Water – for making the jello mixture.
Powdered Sugar – for the heavy whipping cream.
Vanilla Extract – to add more creamy, luscious flavor. The orange and vanilla combination is epic.
Orange Slices, Orange Zest – for the decorating.
HOW TO MAKE ORANGE CREAMSICLE PIE
For The Crust – Add the graham crackers to a food processor and process until you have fine crumbs. Scoop the crumbs into a mixing bowl, add the melted butter and sugar. Mix until well combined. Press mixture into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie dish and refrigerate while you make the fillings.
For The Filling
- In a the chilled bowl of a stand mixer, fitted with a whisk attachment, whip the heavy cream on high until soft peaks form. Add a 1/2 cup powdered sugar and the vanilla and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Transfer whipped cream to another bowl.
- Beat the cream cheese and remaining 1 cup of powdered sugar together until smooth and creamy. Gently fold it in the whipped cream.
- In large bowl add orange jello and boiling water. Whisk together until jello dissolves. Add in your cold water and again whisk until it combines and thickens slightly.
- Gently fold in the whipped cream and cream cheese mixture.
- Pour creamsicle filling into prepared pie crust. Smooth out with a small offset spatula.
- Next, place the pie into the freezer for about 4 hours to set and chill.
- Serve with additional whipped cream and orange slices and zest for garnish. Serve chilled!
RECIPE FAQ’S
HOW TO SERVE NO-BAKE PIE?
After your pie has chilled for at least 4 hours (preferably overnight) garnish the top with some whipped cream and fresh orange finishes like sliced oranges or orange zest. I recommend letting the pie rest for about 10 minutes before trying to slice it so that it is easier to cut through.
CAN I USE COOL WHIP FOR NO-BAKE ORANGE JELLO PIE?
Yes, you can absolutely use Cool Whip instead of heavy whipping cream. Although I usually use heavy whipping cream for garnish, I think that it’s better, in my opinion.
