2. Evenly divide the vodka between both mason jars.
3. Place the lid on each jar, tightly, and give a slight shake, turning the jar upside down.
4. Place in the fridge for 5 days or until the peppermints are completely dissolved.
5. There will be a white layer at the bottom of the mason jars. Simply turn the jars upside down for about an hour and then shake them well.

TIPS FOR SUCCESS
- In theory, you should be able to keep these in a cool, pantry, or similar area. However, I have found this keeps much longer and has a much better taste if stored in the fridge. It starts to have a bitter aftertaste otherwise. Store in the mason jars or another sealed drink container until used up. This will last a long time in the fridge, if it even needs to last that long. 😉
- I did not test this recipe using soft peppermints. I don’t know how well those would do since their flavor isn’t as strong and when disintegrated, they’re grainy, not smooth. So, I do not suggest soft peppermints. Try at your own risk.
- Using a good vodka makes your finished product taste that much better. Get the cheap vodka and it will taste like a cheap peppermint vodka.
- I used Smirnoff vodka as it’s a decent price for some not-so-bad vodka.
- You can place this all in one jar as well, but it will take longer to sit.
- When I serve it, I crush up some of the peppermint discs then dip the tips of the shot glasses in a bit of light corn syrup before dipping the tops in the crushed peppermint.
RECIPE FAQ’S
